Privacy policy

Short version: your timesheet files never leave your device.

Files

CSV, text and spreadsheet files you open in Tiptrail are read and processed by code running in your browser. Their contents — employee names and IDs, shifts, hours, tips — are never transmitted to us or anyone else.

Data stored in your browser

We store your pool settings (pool period, role points, groups and percentages, which tips are pooled), column layouts you've corrected and, if you buy Pro, your license key in your browser's local storage so you don't have to re-enter them. Clear site data to remove them anytime.

License validation

If you activate Pro, your license key (and nothing else) is sent to our payment provider's license API to confirm it is valid. When you click a buy button, the site asks the payment provider whether checkout is open (nothing about you or your files is sent).

Usage counts

The site counts page views and button clicks (for example “pricing viewed”) with a first-party request to this same website. It sets no cookies, stores nothing on your device, sends no identifier and never includes file contents. It is off when your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control.

Hosting logs

Like any website, our host may log standard request data (IP address, user agent, pages requested) for security and reliability. We do not use advertising trackers or analytics cookies.

Payments

Purchases are processed by our merchant-of-record payment partner, which handles your payment details and sales tax under its own privacy policy. We never see your card number.
